If so, it means that the suspended contaminants in the water are significantly above standard.

Detects if the chlorine in the water exceeds the standard. Take a glass of water off the tap as far as possible, then sniff your nose to see if it smells like bleach (chlorine). Drink hot boiled water, whether it smells like bleach powder (chlorine gas), if the  water is not sweet, Instead, it smells like bleach water, that's too much of a phenomenon that bleach powder is beyond the standard.

To detect heavy metal ions, use tap water to make tea, and observe whether the tea turns black overnight? If the color of the tea becomes black, it means that the iron and manganese levels in the tap water are severely exceeding the standard, and a water purifier contains iron and manganese filter elements should strictly only be used for terminal treatment.

Check the color of the tap water. This requires our regular attention, especially when cooking rice. If the color of the cooked rice is faint and not white (the reason  the rice is leaking) then the color of the water is more serious, so we need to be careful.
